How to make in-app purchase using Family Link

How can I make an in-app purchase for my son's Android tablet that is managed using Family Link?

I'm not very familiar with Android devices but my son has an Android iPad. I manage it with Google Family Link and this has worked well so far but he has a game (Super Mario Run) and I'd like to make an in-app purchase for it but I can't figure out how to do that. I feel like it should be as simple as any other app but I can't find any way to do it.

Since you haven't gotten any answers for this yet, I'll share how I do in-app purchases for my nieces. I install the app on my device (phone or tablet) and then I log in to the app using their user ID and password. I use my Google account to purchase the item in-app then log out and close the app on my device. I've done this with Pokémon Go, Candy Crush, Merge Dragons and a few others.

It doesn't use Family Link so it doesn't answer your question, and it requires the trust of knowing the password. But it works for me. I'll be watching this question if someone has a real answer.
