Best books, or the like, on the science of exercise

I'd like to better understand the science underpinning my current gym routine. Can anyone recommend good resources that explain what goes on when I perform, e.g., a pull up or a bicep curl?
Pop science tomes, YT explainers or academic reviews all welcome.
I'm curious about all aspects of the activity, from what exercises affect what muscle groups, through to details of the body's metabolic pathways.
As the question suggests, I'm more oriented towards resistance training, although insight into other forms of exercise welcome.
