A replacement for The Guardian in my rss subscriptions

I subscribe to the rss feed of The Guardian and would like to replace it with another site that is left-leaning, not transphobic, and isn't behind a paywall.

Due to this thread in the blue I learned how transphobic The Guardian is. I'd like suggestions for a replacement.

The Guardian's feed updates multiple times a day. The rss feed has headlines and excerpts from the articles. I scroll through and click through to whatever article sounds interesting. Could be breaking news could be an article about tool using cockatoos. I don't have to be logged in to read the articles. I'd like something similar.

I've also been looking for alternatives to the Guardian. At the moment I follow RSS feeds for Deutsche Welle and NPR, although neither is particularly left- leaning.

BuzzFeed News does surprisingly good (well, "surprisingly" if you hear "BuzzFeed" and think "quizzes about which Harry Potter character you are," as I think a lot of people do, less surprising if you know they won a Pulitzer this year) political and world coverage. You get a lot of granularity in your choice of RSS feeds so you can opt for specific subsets of news and leave out cats and Kardashians.

It would be nice to be able to leave out the racism as well. I was disappointed to see that Buzzfeed News has made the decision to provide a platform for vile racist commentary in their comments sections.
