Another movie, another lost title...

In discussing the fine line between what's fair to use in fiction and not ("Cat Person" inspired"), I was reminded of a movie where a young woman is navigating life after her writing professor writes a prize-winning novel that is --to her--recognizably about her, and not in a flattering way. But I can't remember the name of the movie, help!

The only other detail that I can remember is a scene where the young woman is eating (with friends? with a boss and his wife?) and the professor comes into the restaurant -- she flees to the bathroom, where, eventually, the wife comes in and offers to exchange outfits with her. Why? I don't remember.

Such a fun campy rom-com worth watching. I watched it as soon as I heard that Adam Schlesinger wrote the main song in the film, but stayed for the leads.

Mods please delete if this is too off-topic, but the novel Trust Exercise by Susan Choi might fall into the same category.
