Book Forum?

What's the best online book discussion forum?

I've looked at BookSlut and Readerville, but they seemed to be geared toward chic lit. The Well seems crusty. Despite these limited first impressions, any direction is welcomed.

what about bookcrossing? Just throwing the link out there - try searching to see what the bibliophiles there have suggested.

Look at The Literary Saloon, which is a weblog maintained by the editors of the complete review. There are a lot of links on their sidebar. As you probably have noted, though, a forum that stays on-topic and interesting, with member commentary, is a pretty hard target.

barbelith. currently invite-only, but it's not so hard to ask for an invite.

Despite the name, chicklit.com does not focus on chicklit. Worth taking a look - use the search function to search for discussion of specific titles/ authors.
