Looking to get 30" Dell LCD for my agp system...

I am thinking about Dell 3007 fpw or Apple Cinema 30" LCD.... but I really don't want to buy another computer with pci-e just for the new lcd....

i know i will be spending 2 grand for the monitor but getting a new system is little too much...

i have searched google but most of them are recommending ati cards... I have to have OpenGL card like Quadro...

I am using Quadro 900XGL (about $70 on ebay)
all work great with my 3.4 p4 system

Can I use Quadro 3000 or 4000 with the 30" LCD??

I am hoping to spend under $200 for the new card.

I just bought two Dell 2005FPW 20.1" LCDs—I prefer the extensibility of two large screens to one gigantic, unwieldy beast of a display.

I'm running it off an ATI Radeon X850XT and it works beautifully.

Why can't you run it off the 900XGL? It has Dual-DVI output, right?

I'd say try that set up before purchasing a new video card you don't need.

900XGL doesn't have the resolution to support the 3007FPW.

He was asking whether the Quadro 3000 or 4000 would support the 3007FPW, not the 900XGL.

The lowest end Nvidia Quadro card with dual-DVI that supports the 2560x1600 res on the 3007fpw is the Quadro FX 1100 which costs about $650 retail. There's no way you'll find a new AGP card with dual-DVI and that resolution for under $200.

eBay seems to have a few used FX 1100 cards with bids under $200 right now.

If those auctions don't pan out, I'd go with disillusioned's suggestion of running dual Dell 20" or 24" LCDs and get more pixels (2x 1920x1200 = 4.6M) than the 3007fpw (2560x1600 = 4.1M). It's significantly cheaper, especially when you can find Dell coupon deals. The money you save can be put towards a beefier AGP card.

Response by poster: the card has to have dual-link dvi not just a dual dvi..

i thought about two monitors ... but i like to have seemless large screen...

the AGP card doesn't have to be new....

I just want to know if AGP Quadro will run the 30" dell lcd with out ANY problem....

i know 900xgl won't run the large monitor....

i wouldn't mind some kind of AGP Geforce card if it is significantly cheaper.... any one know which brand/model of geforce that would run it..??

Dell has a list of cards they sell supporting the 3007fpw and Nvidia has a comparison grid of Quadro cards outlining which cards have dual-link DVI. Short of the high-end Quadro cards, it's just the GeForce 7800GT/GTX cards which only come in the PCIe flavor. Otherwise, you have the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro you shot down in the post.

There's a discussion in this forum thread and the consensus is that you're limited to the options above.
