Where can I hear għana music in Malta?

I'll be in Malta for two weeks in March. While researching all things Maltese in preparation I have developed a taste for their traditional song form known as għana. Anyone know of places I could go to hear some live?

Not live, but I found a listing for Maltese record stores, with contact info, maybe you could contact them? Also try any kind of Malta tourist office, they may be able to help as well.

Have you checked any travel guidebooks? Seems like something that would be in a backpacker-style guidebook (your library might have one you could check out).

You might want to ask this question on a Malta-specific travel forum. Here is one example, but there are others. Sounds like fun, good luck!

Best answer: email and ask the lecturer listed in this article.

Response by poster: Thanks to all for your kind efforts to help. I hit the jackpot following fingersandtoes's suggestion. Dr. Ciantar responded straight away and now I am looking forward to a fine għana-filled Sunday morning in a Maltese village bar. Cheers!
