Covering State Candidates

Are there any journalism projects in the U.S., either by mainstream media or independent journalists, that have the goal of interviewing all candidates running for state office?

News media does tend to feature interviews with leading candidates from major parties. But its coverage of the full range of candidates can be limited. That, in turn, tends to screen out non-mainstream candidates and limits their message's access to the public and vice versa. Is anyone promising to interview any/all candidates from anywhere on the political spectrum throughout the 2020 election season?

Do voting guides fit your criteria? The League of Women Voters of Texas puts out a voting guide that includes all candidates who answer their survey. And I've seen some pretty non-mainstream candidates in there over the years.

I can't speak for every state, but for the handful I've lived in, this is generally something that the major daily newspaper in the state's capital city, or biggest city, does.
