Were the Brown Twins in Tales of the City?

Were Marian and Vivian Brown, the lucky twins of San Francisco, mentioned in any of the Tales of the City books?

I can't be definitive but I've read all the books multiple times and I don't remember them being mentioned.

I, too, have read the series many times over (a housemate had several copies of each book, because he kept lending them out and not getting them back), and I can't remember any reference to the Brown twins.
