Seeking Scrumptious Vegan Gift Basket

A dear friend is in Los Angeles and has been diagnosed with a chronic illness. I'm several states away and would love to send a wholesome, fresh, vegan food gift basket but I'm having trouble finding one that meets my (too strict?) criteria.

The vegan gift baskets I'm finding online look like big boxes o' packaged snack foods. In my dream world, they'd receive a gift that was full of fresh fruit, easy-to-prepare veggies, some healthy bakery items, breads, possibly a few prepared meals that they could store (soups, prepared veggies), maybe teas. I'm trying to avoid chocolates, sweets, candies, snacky things since they avoid stuff like that because of their illness.

The closest thing I could find from googling around was Narrative Foods gifting services, but that is focused on corporate gifting so starts at $1k it looks like. I'm willing to spend some dough but uh not that much.

Does anyone have any recommendations for local Los Angeles bakeries / cafes / markets who could prepare this sort of thing? Or online-only purveyors of fresh, wholesome vegan food gifts?

I’m on the wrong coast, but it sounds like you want to do a curated grocery delivery for your friend. I have heard great things about Erewhon Market. I believe they’re known for lots of healthy prepared vegan meals and snacks plus produce, and they do deliveries. You could always put together an online order, or call them and find out more info!

Valleybrink road perhaps?

And if you can’t find a service, this is straight up my alley (I worked in gifting in college) and I’m in la, so send me a message and I’ll take care of your friend for you.

Depending on where in LA this person is, you may have some luck calling a vegan or vegan-friendly grocer, explaining what you're looking for, and letting them custom assemble a basket. Mrs. Winston's, Co-opportunity Market, etc. This is a very thoughtful idea, good on you!
