Jailbreaking in 2019

I am interesting in jailbreaking my iPhone X running iOS 12.4 (goodbye, giant center screen volume popup!). It has been several iOS generations since I've done this - is there anything special I need to watch out for?
I have seen the /r/jailbreak FAQ and still have a couple of questions.
(1) Is there a reason to use Chimera vs. unc0ver? I have access to both Windows 10 and OSX computers.
(2) I remember in at least one past jailbreak there was a Cydia package to fix the security hole that allowed the jailbreak in the first place. Is that something that might be a problem with the current jailbreaks, and if so, is there a package you recommend installing?

you can get on the 13 beta and have 99% of the fun of a jailbreak for 1% of the effort. and get ride of the volume pop up.

I'm not an Applehead any more, but there was a news report today that Apple had fixed that vulnerability.

Response by poster: I wound up being lazy, didn't jailbreak but instead acquiesced to Apple and took on 13.1 today. It is pretty nice but I miss a jailbreak tweak or two. For example, with the new interface to move apps on the screen, I thought I might be able to move more than one app at time. Maybe they will take care of that in the next few years.
