This has been bugging me for years - can someone tell me more about the band here (seen in front of the blue wall at the 30:30 mark in the full video)?
That is from the video for the project "One World One Voice", a 1990 international music project designed to be an environmental-awareness/global-solidarity project. I was super into this when it first came out (and still dip in time to time), and have found at least some information about all of the participating musicians throughout the world - except THIS one. The liner notes only credit them as "Native Land & Themba", and the song they're singing as "Oh Ya", but the only thing I can find out about either online reference this project (and "Oh ya" is one of the only English phrases they sing, so I figured that out).
Note that I am only talking about the band in front of the blue wall, and they're only in for about two minutes. The clip intersperses shots of them with shots of a few guys with long hair singing in the dark; those guys I know (it's a vocal group from California called "Venice"), and then after two minutes their bit is over.

Just to add - that Discogs link doesnt show them as having released or performed in anything else.

Response by poster: I know that the band is named "Native Land and Themba". I am looking for more information about that band.
That Discogs link is one I have already consulted.

Best answer: Themba are/were a South African group. Ou Kass is a track of theirs on a Strut Records compilation called 'Next Stop Soweto, Vol 3'. You can hear that here.
In fact Discogs claims that they are the same group, based on this page.
Don't know Native Land.

The Themba who recorded "Ou Kass" is Themba Mokoena, a renowned South African jazz guitarist. I'm not entirely convinced that's the same Themba in the One World One Voice project — especially since there is no guitar to be heard — but maybe? Is he the guy wearing the "Themba" T-shirt in the video? I'm curious about this now.
