Orlando Adjacent Beach Recommendations

Mr. Wasp and I are flying into Orlando next month. We're planning to immediately get out of the city and enjoy several days relaxing near/on the beach; we also like the idea of staying in a low-key, unique location. Google/travel site searches feel overwhelming and inconclusive. We're planning to visit Kennedy Space Center one day, but other than that, have a wide open schedule. Thank you!

Best answer: Try looking at Ponce Inlet, New Smyrna or Flagler Beach. Flagler beach is a little further from Orlando but the most low-key and my favorite. There's also the Canaveral National Seashore near the space center where you can rent a canoe & go backcountry camping.. Though that may be more low-key than you're looking for ;)

Check out the South Beach Inn in Cocoa Beach.

If you're planning on visiting KSC, Cocoa Beach is closest. Jetty Park is pretty nifty if you'd consider a cabin.

Canaveral National Seashore is one of my favorite places on Earth. It's not touristy AT ALL, meaning the only amenities you'll find are bathrooms. No souvenir shops or chain restaurants once you hit the preserve. The beaches are gorgeous and I've never had any trouble finding a secluded, barely populated section of beach to hang out in.

New Smyrna Beach (South of Ponce Inlet),
Cocoa Beach (South of Minuteman Causeway, aka ‘the Streets’),
Or, a bit South on A1A or I-95, Melbourne Beach.
