Opera, hockey game, *and* summer dress.

The bag I'm looking for must go well with the three conditions above. I think I may have found it. The size is perfect! What I need help with: Black would be my go-to, but would any other available color fit with the above three things? Nothing light-colored, of course; I want to keep the inevitable hand-grime to a minimum. Also: Would you indeed declare this bag to be the thing? I'm pretty nutty about it.

Looks great! Black is the safest bet for all three.
I really like the dark green, and I generally wear things that would match with that, but that's how I roll.

That bag is cute! I think the color choice would depend on what colors you normally wear, and a lot of the colors they offer would go well with a variety of outfits. I like the blue because peacock/teal tends to coordinate with a lot of things I wear without overpowering them, but your palette may be different.

Black is your safest option, in my opinion.

Just to throw a wrench in here, I love these bags in vegan leather (they seriously look and feel real) and I have two of these clutch bags. Adorable, can use wrist strap or detachable crossbody strap.

If you want, that one also comes in metallic vegan leather.

That bag is ADORBS and I've had a great experience (back in my pre-vegan days) with Hobo products lasting a long time. Black works, yes, and is the most versatile, but Nthing the evergreen! Do you wear warm colors? If so, it would act as an "almost neutral" while adding a pop of fun. If cool tones are more your style, I'd stick with black.

I can also vouch for the bag that rahaelfaith linked to (thanks! I hadn't found it online yet!). I've rebought it 3 times - I use it for a smaller purse tucked into my larger tote. I'd also go for a metallic version. The black may be great for hockey, but may be overpowering for summer dress, depending on what colors you wear, as mentioned above.

I hate to throw a wrench in your plan (and I might not be!) but many stadiums require that you have a clear bag or the “purse” be of certain dimensions (basically a large wallet. You may be fine with the linked bag! But you might want to look I to the arena rules and double check

that is elegant as all-get-out. I would not go with black to go with a summer dress. One of the greys or browns. and not the paisley!

Love it. Also my bigger Hobo bag has lasted through 6+ years of daily abuse so far, no problem.

Super cute, but to me it reads as a bit too casual for the opera regardless of the color.

Red is an under-appreciated neutral so long as you don’t wear much orange or pink, but even then it can be ok. If you wear a lot of white, grey, black, turquoise, teal, green, or navy it’s terrific.

Also love the evergreen! I think it's dark enough to go with everything, but not quite as heavy as the black.

(I worked at an opera company for over a decade--that bag is perfectly fine for everything but opening night galas.)

Personally, I vote for the teal, but it very much depends on the rest of your wardrobe.
