So I got this speeding ticket...

I got a speeding ticket in MD, but I live in CA...

The highway patrolman was kind enough to provide me with an envelope to send in payment of the fine. I asked him at the time about traffic school to keep the infraction off my record, but he didn't have any information for me.

I sent in payment as soon as I returned home, and have received no follow-up correspondence/information about the ticket.

I'd like to go the traffic school route, but don't know who I should contact. Local DMV?

You've already pleaded guilty. You could write to the court and ask that your plea be changed.

I have lived in both Maryland and California and this question confuses me.

As far as I recall from my 35 odd years of living in Maryland, they have no traffic school option to expunge points from one's license. California does (and boy if you get a bad comic teaching it you wish you would have paid the fine). But if you get a speeding ticket out of state (MD), generally you pay the fine and there are no points assessed on your state of residence (CA) license. If you don't pay the find then the state where the infraction occurs (MD) contacts your state (CA) and that state (CA) suspends your license.

I had this happen to me while living in MD and getting a speeding ticket in Pennsylvania. I didn't pay and the license was suspended. I paid and it was returned, and no points were added to the MD license.

I think if you paid the MD fine than you are done with the process. You can also call or email the MD DMV and they should be able to tell you what's up about fines or points. But perhaps this is a CA thing that I never learned in 4 dreadful years (1990-1994) in LA.

Good luck.
