Thunderbird: Opening Links in New Window

How do I get Thunderbird to open all internet links in a new window?

If I have a browser window open, Thunderbird opens whatever link I click on within an email inside that browser window. I want to force Thunderbird to open all links in NEW windows. Is this possible? I have browsed mozillazine.org and Ask Metafilter, but I haven't found anything. Maybe I'm asking the wrong question? If so, help rephrasing would be appreciated.

FWIW, I am using IE 6.0 (but I also have Firefox installed and am happy to use that if it solves the problem).

I believe in Firefox there's a setting (under "Tabs"? Not sure) that sez something like "Open external URLs in: () Current tab, () New Tab, () New Window"

That is, "Tabs" in the preferences window

Options: Tabs: Open links from other applications in a new window.

Best answer: There is a similar option in IE (Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> "Re-use windows for launching shortcuts"
