Halloween fun in NYC this weekend?

What's something fun we can do this Saturday, October 27th, in NYC? No parties, please.

ARGH I'm so bummed. My friends and I were all set to go on the Cthulhu Canoe Ride this Saturday night and now it's been postponed due to rain. So suddenly, we have no nice Halloweeny plans for Saturday night.

What's something fun a bunch of late 30s/early 40s people can do in Manhattan or Brooklyn? Here's what we DON'T want - one of those awful parties where you pay admission and are in a giant ballroom with excruciating music, overpriced drinks, and 9000 other people, all a good 15 years younger than us.

Things we've done in the past that we enjoy - horror movies with live orchestras, scary story readings, interactive theater, gallery openings..... anything a little off the beaten path. And ONLY for Saturday the 27th, as that's the night we're all free. Something like this would've been perfect but it's sold out. This would've also been good but I'm already going to that on a different night with different people.

Assume I've already checked out local theaters, the skint, time out ny, etc.

Paranormal Investigation at the Morris-Jumel Mansion? I haven't been.

I just this minute got an email from the Skint with "75+ Halloween events" so check the site again, I guess.

Best answer: Sleepy Hollow the Musical?
They Might Be Giants at Terminal 5?

If nothing else, I'd keep an eye out for the nonsense newsletter this Friday...

My wife and I have been on the Ghost Doctors tour of the MET twice (!) now. If you ever wanted to ghost hunt with Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland from Oh Hello! in an ironic-but-turns-non-ironic fashion, check them out. Looks like they have a tour of the Natural History museum planned for Sunday, they bring the ghost hunting equipment, the knowledge of where the best water is in the museum, and bunch of fun stories.

Response by poster: Ooh we're leaning towards Sleepy Hollow the Musical but keep the suggestions coming!

It looks like they’re sold out for Saturday, but I’ve had my eye on the Madame Morbid Trolley Tour. It’s perfect for fall, but it’s around all year long.
