Name that Game - Ancient Polygon Edition

I have an 80’s or 90’s 3D computer game stuck in my head that I swear I am not making up. Here is what I can remember:

- Early 3D game with brightly colored polygonal spaces and characters. Flat shaded, no wireframe
- Adventure game, walk around, climb stairs, push switches, talk to people
- There was a small plus shaped cursor that you could use to shoot a laser with the mouse
- I feel like this came with something for free. In my mind associated with Prodigy (don’t judge) but that might just be due to similar vintages?
Help!

Alpha Waves / Continuum?

Best answer: I remember something like that called "Lemme Outta Here", which came on a cd included with a book about virtual reality. (The same cd had a demo in what appeared to be the same engine of a virtual office park and also contained a demo of Continuum referenced by unliteral, among other things.) As I recall, you eventually got to a rowboat, and the game ended with you getting into a rocket. I haven't been able to find anything on Google, though.

Could it have been one of the Freescape games?

Best answer: Oh hey, the one I'm thinking of is apparently a demo for Virtual Reality Studio. (Images from it appear in the "Graphics" section here.) It seems this is built on top of Freescape.

This sounds like Challenge of the ancient empires.

Response by poster: Definitely was the VRS demo built on Freescape. The rowboat, lighthouse, rocket are dead giveaways. Mystery solved!
