Looking for a description of existence I saw awhile ago

A couple years ago, I saw an imgur gallery of images describing a perspective of overall existence that said we are all one entity experiencing itself through different guises. I'm looking for more information on this but I don't know the best search terms.
The idea explained that once it/I/we are done it will be like an egg that is hatching and going on to a new phase of existence which is unknown to us now.
I have been thinking about this a lot lately, and re-watching the Bill Hicks bit on a positive drug story a lot, which kind of gets at the same theme.
I am trying to find more information about this perspective but I don't know what it is called or good search terms to find out more.
Do you know what the name for this philosophy is or how best to search for it?

I found some of the gnostics' stuff to be pointing in this direction

Thanks for the lead! I've enjoyed his novels, but never read further.
Looking through imgur, now that we know the source, I found most posts are some version of this one (tumblr format here), widely reposted, with a picture of a broken egg containing a yolk and some planets, but also this comic version which is worth a view (24 pics).

I just read Alan Watts' The Book, which is similar (minus the egg; more of a winking in and out of existence). He attributes his philosophy to "The Vedanta," which I haven't researched, and Wikipedia is saying that it's a super-broad term with a lot of different schools of thought in Hindu philosophy.

I am still interested in learning more about what this type of philosophy in general is called as well
Related terms: monism, idealism ("philosophical idealism", not the kind of idealism where you are passionately committed to moral values), "the perennial philosophy", "cosmic consciousness" (ugh)

David Eagleman's "Sum, Forty Tales from the Afterlives" might also scratch this itch for you too.
