Facebook "Boost Post" Question

I signed up for a Facebook account in late February. I've probably boosted about a dozen posts, but I just noticed that it seems when a post is in process of being boosted, Facebook won't let me promote any new ones until the one current one is done.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or i'ts how FB works. What if I want to boost another post? I have boosted two different posts at the same time. But even the "Boost Post" button isn't available. I could go to create ad campaign, but that's way too complicated for me right now. I like just writing something quick, attaching a photo and clicking promote. What am I missing?

Did you check this FAQ page about why boost might not be available? Might help you troubleshoot the problem.

Response by poster: XtineHutch, I appreciate the reply. None of these scenarios seem to apply. The last post I boosted was this morning, and I wanted to boost another one. That's when I noticed this happening.

I’m guessing this has to do with Facebook’s policies around boosted posts. Many of what they give as ‘guidelines’ are actually undefined rules that you must abide by. So while there’s no actual limit on how many posts you can boost at once, if you are boosting ‘too many’ (which is calculated by an algorithm, not a specific number) FB will not allow you to continue to boost posts. This policy is due to their data showing that people do not like their news feeds filled with promoted content from the same page over and over, which is true. It’s also why it won’t let you post images with text in an ad. People don’t like it.

If you’ve only had an account since late February, that means you’ve boosted over a dozen posts in 8 weeks. I’d scale down to once a week, max. And go ahead with an ad campaign to appease the almighty algorithm. Creating ads is not that much harder than making a boosted post, and it will let you vary the way people can engage with your business.
