I am wondering if there are anay specific grants that will fund literary magazines as well as a chapbook press?

I have found a few, but it is difficult to narrow it down to literary magazines and chapbook presses. Are there any to recommend? How would I go about looking? I am not sure if a literary magazine is considered a literarry organization as well. Kind of knew to all this for work.

Are you in Canada? Canada Council for the Arts has grants for publishing. What province are you in? Ontario Council for the Arts has similar grant programs.

If you're still in NYC or environs, you can poke around on the New York State Council for the Arts page about literature-related grants.

Other ways to research this include checking the mastheads of your favorite literary magazines - they will have some wording somewhere about "Support from..."

Response by poster: @girlpublisher Still in Canada, Ontario! But this is for a magazine/chapook press based in Austin, Texas. Thanks, though! I am familiar with Canada Council for the Arts.

The Foundation Center and NYFA both welcome inquiry emails about exactly this kind of thing – they can direct you to both national and TX-specific resources for possible funding.

Also don’t forget to look for foundations that, while they’re not lit-world focused, might have a special interest in the press’s subject matter / regional focus / demographic focus
