What the heck is this filter for?

Found this filter (front, back, long side, short side) lurking in my closet, next to the bags for my vaccuum cleaner. However, it definitely doesn't seem to be an accessory for the vaccuum, and I'm stumped as to what it goes with. It is about 6"x4.5"x1.25". There is no writing nor any markings anywhere on it. Thanks for your help!
It's a hepa filter. I'm not sure it belongs with your vacuum, but I imagine if it is it would be placed where the air comes out?

I'm placing my money on it being a car cabin air filter for an older car, sort of like this one.
(I say older car because the filter in my 2014 is all filter, no plastic housing, which seems like a cheaper way to manufacture them.)

Response by poster: Wow. The corpse in the library has it. That was indeed my old vaccuum cleaner. I obviously didn't pitch the filter when that machine gave up the ghost many years ago. Now I have to ask: How did you identify the precise filter?

I just found another source for the same one by eyeballing a Google image search for vacuum hepa filter. Your clear photos were very helpful. There aren't many with an orange frame with those proportions and no reinforcing grid over the filter element.

Yah - if there'd been a metal grid over the back, it would be dead-on for any number of lawnmower type air filters..

I'm a corpse in a library. I have a lot of time on my cold, dead hands.
(A Google image search for "vacuum filter yellow," because I was pretty certain it was a vacuum filter, then glancing at the results. A Pinterest image leapt out at me, and that was a link to Amazon. It took less than a minute.)
