Warrent Buffet's strategy when he purchased Berkshire Hathaway?

I'm curious what Warren Buffett did after buying Berkshire Hathaway. He shut down the textile business and converted it into his holding company. In the initial stages was he in stealth mode or a publicity hog?

That was a long, long time ago. It may be hard to find that out now... but it's likely to take real research. Might be library material.

Contradictions aside, I don't think he's ever been a real publicity hog. This wikipedia entry has the story of how he ended up with Berkshire, after dumping his original holding company BPL.

It seems he just worked during those days. Didn't seek the limelight, just wanted to generate lots of Alpha (i.e., above market returns).
