Help please ID this plant.

Can you ID this plant? Dug July 4 in Michigan. Roots were reddish and also resembled bean sprouts. Pic on Tw1tter.

Response by poster: Clarification. Stems were reddish, roots were white and resembled bean sprouts.

I don't know the answer, but often have the same question, so I recently downloaded the Pl@antNet app, which I love. (I identified a crape myrtle just this Sunday!) I especially like that I can upload a pic of a plant's leaves, bark, fruit, or entire entity. The app can also access your (and the plant's) location by GPS.
