Name that kitty

We're adopting this ball of fluff and need some suggestions for a name.

My friends are fostering this sweet girl, who's around 6 months old and came to them as a stray. We've been looking for a companion for Captain, who lost her buddy last year and has gotten very sedentary. Missy (as she's currently called) seems like a good fit. She's friendly and pretty chill for a young cat and she integrated pretty quickly into her foster home.

We need a name though, and we're coming up blank. What would you call her?

Just curious what your other cat's name is, and also what the personality of the beautiful Maine Coon that you're planning to adopt is like... I had two Maine Coons, and they were the most loving and adorable pair of soft purring delight! Their names were Katie (short for Katherine, because she looked so regal - but I was afraid that she would spook if anyone approached her, and thought that Katie could sound like "kitty" and put her more at ease)... and Calvin. He was my boy. Had him longer than the husband. So, yeah... other cat's name, please, and a little more about new bundle of fur. Thanks.

What a beautiful cat!

We once had a sibling pair named Captain and Celeste. Celeste was a pure white Turkish Angora (rescue) and the fiercest hunter I've ever known. I've watched her crunchily devour a rat from head to tail tip, and roll gleefully in the grass afterward. Celeste is a name that an angelic or naughty cat can grow into.

I check out the pics in every naming thread, and have never been inspired to contribute, but as soon as I saw that face I instantly thought Harriett.

Judging from the Who paraphernalia in the picture, perhaps one of the names from this list of Catkind?

This cat has to have x's and/or z's in her name.

How about Ziziphus jujuba?

I've always been partial to Scout for an inquisitive and friendly kitty. You appear to be into Dr. Who, so maybe . . . Amy Pond or River Song. If you're also into Harry Potter, there's Professor McGonagall or just Minerva (her animagus was a cat) and Hermione (she accidentally turned into a cat).

Response by poster: Good eye, those who noticed the Doctor Who stuff. My friend, who's fostering, is the fan. Hence the current name of Missy. I don't want a Doctor Who name for the cat.

Also, I know Tenille is an obvious choice but it's rather outdated. Does anyone under the age of 40 even remember Muskrat Love?

I never participate in these, EVER, but I agree with Tentacle of Trust that this cat wants an H- name. Harriett, Harley, Harvey (which I think is sweet for a girl cat), something like that.

I would be dumb if I didn't say Kate, so she could be First Mate Kate,

but also I like Ada better.

Onelook.com wouldn't let me search through more than 2000 words and I have to run, but there's a partial alphabet's worth of names that would make the transition to a new name easier for your new cat by ending on the same sound as "Missy" does. I'm partial to "Lemony" myself.
