Why did the UK's Labour party support a snap general election?

Why did the UK's Labour party support a snap general election last week? I've been puzzling about this and I can't understand their motivations.

Some ideas:
  • Corbyn thought he'd actually win. Unless he's entirely divorced from reality (maybe?) this seems clearly false.
  • Labour thought they'd lose political face by blocking it. But they're not exactly doing well at the moment...
  • Labour think they will obtain more seats than they currently have---maybe they're banking that the polls are once again very wrong?
  • Labour think that they can wait until after Brexit when the country's gone to pot, and then regain power. But five years doesn't seem enough for the real structural damages to hit.
