Co-op lan games for older machines

We're doing some co-op in-person lan gaming over christmas. Previous years we've played a lot of terraria / killing floor / battlefield 1942 / team fortress 2. We're looking for other recommendations for games that suit some of these criteria, especially newer things we haven't heard of. * run on non-current-topline machines (we have a lot of spare older machines but limited current gamer machines) * drop-in/drop-out (terraria was particular good for this) * low barrier to entry * cheap in bulk (steam 4-packs are great) * co-op

Borderlands? Borderlands 2 is the best of the bunch IMHO, but the Pre-Sequel is plenty fun too.

Overwatch would be the obvious suggestion. I'm told it runs pretty well on potato-class computers and it's a lot of fun. You can party up with your LAN-mates and join games together. I have no personal experience with it but people also seem to like the new Battlefield a lot.

Don't Starve Together, perhaps?

If you can get Serious Sam (1 or 2 - doesn't matter which) on co-op mode it's more fun than anyone should be allowed to have. It's pretty old but awesome.

TF2 is the gold standard still. Overwatch is the modern equivalent.

If you're feeling particularly geeky, Artemis.
