Wondering about an old character from Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Does anybody know the story and/or current whereabouts of the Venice Beach busker who balanced an oven, wine glasses, and some other stuff on his face circa late-90s/early-00s? I believe his name was Frank Simon.
I am mostly just being nostalgic about old Venice Beach characters, but I used to love seeing this guy. My memory is that he would put an actual oven on his face and then say, "Clap for Frank," while demonstratively clapping. He was pretty burly guy who spoke in what I always thought was a German accent.
My Googling has failed me. He was never as renowned as, say Roller Skating Hendrix.
Related to this, does anybody know of good books or articles on old Venice Beach performers?
