Why won't my iPad save passwords?

Whenever I want to open MeFi, access my bank accounts, open my mail, etc, I have to reenter my password. How do I fix this please?
If you don't want to use iCloud Keychain, other options include 1password, LastPass and KeePass, but involve more setup work and can include additional costs.

Best answer: I'm not sure if your question is how to make it so that you don't have to enter passwords ever, or that even after you've logged in and selected 'remember me', the site requires you to log in every session? If it's the latter, have you somehow enabled Private Browsing? (Or if not using Safari, the equivalent function in your browser?) My mother has managed to turn on private browsing in Safari sometimes, and will call me with exactly this issue. Here's how to enable/disable private mode in Safari.
If you just wanted to be rid of passwords altogether, the previous answers have that angle covered.

What browser are you using? In any browser there is usually a setting to "remember me" or some such similar language. Click on that. If you are using the privacy part of a browser, it will delete the login cookie upon exit.

But hey, I know you've already thought of this, but saved passwords for banking on an iPad might not be a great idea.... I know that my Amazon account won't save my password on my iPad, even though it will on my desktop. And for good reason.

Not exactly a fix but close -- get LastPass and put the app on your iPad. Then you'll have all those passwords available to copy and paste, in a secure location. I speak from experience, as this is what I do.

Also, if you back up your iPad to a Mac, be sure to click the checkbox to "Enable Encryption" of the backups. If you don't, then passwords are not saved in the backups, and if you upgrade to a new iDevice it will copy most of your settings and data over, but not your passwords.

Also make sure you're not browsing in private mode by accident.

Yes, "Private Mode" for your browser won't save any passwords or usernames. You can easily switch modes.

How do I set up iCloud Keychain?
After upgrading to iOS 7.0.3 or later, the iOS setup assistant will ask you to set up iCloud Keychain. If you skipped this step and want to set up iCloud Keychain now, follow these steps:
Use these steps if you're using iOS 7.0.3 or later:
