Adventure camera seems to have taken an arrow to the knee.

My Canon PowerShot D20 worked fine when I put it away, and now it doesn't boot. Help?

It's been a while (at last since last June) but it was stored in entirely reasonable conditions, particularly considering its "adventure camera" nature. I just tried a brand new, fully-charged battery and still all that happens when I press the power button is that its LED flashes four times (then there's a refractory period of about ten seconds during which the power button does nothing) . However, computers recognize the camera and can access its SD card just fine. What gives, and can I fix it? I'd be comfortable using something like CHDK but haven't been able to make any headway without the LCD. I'd rather not open the case given that my favorite and intended use of it is underwater.

Check Canon's product recall site. Many of the PowerShots have a design flaw in the lens control circuitry, and Canon do a quick, free repair to remedy it.

Response by poster: Such a good suggestion! Alas, the D20 doesn't seem to have a product advisory.
