Academic editing service recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a good editing service for academic journal articles (in the humanities)? The article in question is around 9000 words and has already passed peer review and had a number of edits for style at the request of the journal but they are asking for it to be edited again.
This will be a case of fixing occasional English usages that don't conform to the requirements of a good academic journal and making it read better (I would think that most sentences will not need any changes); no structural changes need to be made. We are looking for a quick turnaround (within a couple of days) in order to be able to resubmit within the schedule the journal has asked for. We are in the UK but we are happy to consider US services if they are prepared to work in UK English.

I would recommend Laurel Ralston as an editor (disclosure, a friend of mine).

Bioscience writers pays their editors better than American journal experts, if that matters to you. (So I know I was able to do better work through than them than through aje.). Also able to work in UK English and with quick turnaround.

Response by poster: Many thanks for the answers, in this instance we have now found an individual we'll be working with from a personal recommendation.
