Can I Make My Favorite Mouse's FootPads Silky Smooth Again?

You know the little plastic feet on the bottom of a mouse that should allow it to skate effortlessly across a mouse pad? How do you make them smooth again once they've been roughed up? Sanding? Nail polish?? (I have two Logitech M510's. The older mouse is better, except for its scruffy little feet.)

consider replacing them

Are they rough-rough? Like they got abraded on something? Or just filthy? I've "fixed" a lot of "broken" mice with just a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

If they're actually scuffed you will need to replace them.

Response by poster: New pads, eh? Cool. Like brakes.

The feet are scuffed from use without a mouse pad.

I use my little mousy without a mousepad on a smooth wooden desk. It's feet are quite scuffed and grimy, but no issues. Maybe ditch the mousepad.

Response by poster: Desk is wood but not as smooth as it looks. Hence, the scuffing.

They're the same model, so presumably the same shaped feet...why not just swap 'em?

I haven't used a mouse pad in over 10 years and they just get worn down. Just replace 'em. I did on my Logitech G5 and it's good as new. They also sent me too many, so I will have fresh mouse feet for the foreseeable future.
