Gmail is not grabbing my domain mail anymore

I have gmail set up to grab my domain mail and it has always worked well. I forced it to check once manually a few days ago and now it has stopped doing it automatically for hours at a time. How can I fix this?

Before it was under 15 minutes for the mail to come through, but over the weekend I went to Settings- Account and Import - Check mail from other accounts (using POP3):- Check Mail now. Ever since I did this, emails to my domain address take hours to show up if at all. I have to hit that link again to get them most of the time. Today I got emails for a few hours and then it just stopped.

Here is the log:
Thu, Nov 12, 2015 at 7:42 PM 14 mails fetched.
Thu, Nov 12, 2015 at 11:11 AM One mail fetched.
Thu, Nov 12, 2015 at 10:11 AM 2 mails fetched.
Thu, Nov 12, 2015 at 9:11 AM 3 mails fetched.
Thu, Nov 12, 2015 at 8:17 AM 3 mails fetched.

Those 14 emails are timestamped between noon and 7:42pm today. Those other 4 entries are automatic checks. I think I did a manual check earlier in the morning.
If my host was the problem, I assume I would see a log entry with zero messages. Is that true? Is there something I can do to make gmail go back to automatically grabbing my emails?

Gmail collects mail from pop accounts based on how much e-mail you get. To speed it up, get more e-mail in those accounts!

Otherwise see this information about manual refreshing. Alternatively don't use pop collection, use forwarding.

But the question is why did it stop when it was working OK before. Doing a Check Mail Now should not stop the normal fetch schedule. Something got bollixed up. I suggest deleting the account entirely from your Gmail account and then setting it up again from scratch.

Check the details at the domain end. It is quite possible that you are also storing email there and that the email box has reached its quota limit - therefore preventing any new emails from arriving. It is also possible that your account with the domain end may be missing a payment, etc.

Response by poster: 14 emails is more than 1, 2 and 3 emails that were automatically fetched, so that is not the problem. I don't want to manually fetch the emails, hence the question. I don't want to forward the messages, either. Emails are not stored once fetched and the account is paid up.

Response by poster: Things seem to be working better today:
Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 4:35 PM One mail fetched.
Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 3:48 PM 2 mails fetched.
Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 3:01 PM No mails fetched.
Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 2:50 PM No mails fetched.
Fri, Nov 13, 2015 at 2:04 PM One mail fetched.
Also, that confirms that there were no checks done yesterday afternoon since this log does show checks with 0 messages.

Response by poster: This is happening again and it started less than a week after I used the manual check. I avoid using it for exactly this reason.
