Funny kids' poetry written by/featuring non-white folks?

I teach first grade, and have been reading some Shel Silverstein poems to my students. One boy in particular adores them, but he was very disappointed to learn that Silverstein wasn't brown but rather was a white Jewish fellow. This child (who is multi-racial, and self-identifies as brown) is thirsting for funny, age-appropriate poetry, a la Shel Silverstein, that features (and/or is written by) brown people. Any recommendations?

There is a gorgeous picture book anthology edited by Nikki Giovanni called Hip Hop Speaks to Children. Some of it is serious, but much of it is a lot of fun. It also comes with a CD.
