Android Voice Recorder That Uses Physical Keys to Operate?

I'm trying to find an Android app that can make voice memo's by pressing some physical key on my phone (e.g., volume up or down, or double tapping home key).

There is an app that uses volume keys to actuate ("Amazing Audio..."), but the app has to be open and "active" (also has huge ads you can't seem to pay to remove)--I'd like to find something that can record even if I'm doing something else on the phone.

Tasker might be able to solve the "launch an app in response to button presses" problem, but I'm not sure that it'd actually start the recording, and it's a bit complex to set up in any case. Still, might be something to look at.

I've been playing with Google Keep which both records and transcribes as you speak. I wonder if that would help when combined with the Tasker suggestion above.

Also Google Keep has a widget with the microphone on it. So if you can't get a physical button, you can at least gave a mic icon on your homescreen.

I've also simply spoken to my phone using the microphone input in am email. Works most of the time. A few button presses to get there though...
