I want to get another spare and don't want to pay dealer prices. Can you tell me where I can get a key made for my Toyota and save some money?

Best answer: A lot of Home Depots will make you a chip car key.

I'm pretty sure Mayer Hardware on North Winton does this - not sure on price: http://www.mayerpaintandhardware.com

If you have time to wait on shipping you can get a Mini-VCI cable with an...illegitimate..version of Techstream on Amazon for around $20. That and a (Windows) laptop will allow you to pair a new key from eBay with your car.

I think there is a way to pair a new key even without Techstream, so long as you have another working key, but I don't recall exactly how to do it. With Techstream it is just a couple of clicks rather than the something like turning the car off and on, opening the door three times, pulling the parking brake a couple of times and hitting a button on the new key crap.
