Do you remember an urban fantasy book set in San Francisco?

I am trying to remember the title of a book I read within the last couple of years, I'm guessing it was published in the last 15 years, although it could have been published earlier. It was an urban fantasy set in San Francisco. There were gods or other supernatural beings vying for control of the city.
There was some sort of artifact that the main character accidentally acquired that would help one of these gods (maybe it was from South America?). He (I think?) snuck into a reoccurring house party, where people were lined up to get in. One of the gods was gathering power by syphoning it off of people who were hooking up at the party. The main character was looking for someone there and kept just missing him/her. I remember that there was a hot tub outdoors, the god's rooms upstairs, and maybe a play dungeon in the basement.
Ring a bell?

Best answer: Agreed, that sounds like one of the Marla Mason series -maybe the first?

Best answer: Yeah, that sounds like Tim Pratt's Blood Engines (the first Marla Mason book.) The characters are mostly sorcerers and not gods, though.
