Moving to Nashville short term on short notice

Need advice for short term housing in Nashville starting June 1.

Hello all,

I'm moving to Nashville next week for a job that starts on June 1st. It will go for 12 weeks, I'll be working 3 evenings a week 3pm-3am.

Just wondering if anyone has any short term living suggestions. I'm planning on using air bnb for a few days and hoping that a sublet will pop up. I'm probably looking for a place with roommates in the under $700 range but would love to find my own place.

I have minimal belongings so a small room or even a dormitory would work. Not sure if any of the colleges rent out space for the summer. My only constraints are that I need to sleep in till about 11 some mornings after work.

Any suggestions? I'll be working the Craigslist and roommates.com kinda stuff.

thanks!

I see a lot of roommate listings on Craigslist here so I think you'll be able to find something pretty quickly. Feel free to memail me if you want any info on locations and stuff. Welcome to Music City!

For 3 months you might also look into extend stay hotels. Rent might be a little more expensive, but you won't have rent or utilities to deal with, so it might actually be less monthly.

Does the company offer housing? I think it would be very difficult to find a three-month lease otherwise.

Are there colleges in Nashville? Many students end up with a yearlong lease and sublet their apartments during the summer months when they aren't in school. 12 weeks starting June 1 sounds almost perfect for this kind of situation, though you may run up against students returning for the fall semester toward the end of your job. Check what colleges and universities are in Nashville and call their housing departments to see if any students have advertised summer sublets.

In addition to extended-stay hotels, I would also check regular hotels -- call the front desk and see if they offer a monthly rate, then compare it with what else you get. Bonus -- you get your room cleaned daily and may even get free breakfast daily.

Oh and talk to some landlords at apartment complexes and elsewhere. I could be wrong and they may be willing to do a 3 month lease (your rent will almost certainly be higher than a year-long lease). You may want to look into renting furniture as well (I think CORT is the name of a company that does this, maybe Rent-A-Center as well) rather than schlepping all your stuff from where you are to Nashville and back for such a short term.
