Pop Song that quotes the Habanera from Carmen?

This is driving me nuts: there's a pop song, probably from the 70s or 80s, that starts out with a solo violin playing the Habanera from Carmen. Then it transitions into kind of a soft, midtempo song, kind of western-y.

More details:

Maybe with a female vocalist in the Maria Muldaur/Linda Rondstadt vein, but that's shakier: may also be a male/female duet. The Habanera playing violin comes back from time to time and the refrain lyric is something like "oh, little rider". It's maybe a lullaby? I don't think I dreamt this, but no combination of descriptors from the above is getting me anything close. Pretty sure I heard it on mainstream radio, but it might have been an independent or public station. Ringing a bell with anyone?

Response by poster: That's cool, but it's not it. This was a lot more mellow, and wasn't a straight up cover/re-mix of the Habanera, just used the melody in a few places.
