Herbal Equine/Animal Medicine Resources...

I have been asked by a friend with no Google-fu to try and track down online or paper resources for herbal medicine for horses/small farm animals. This is proving harder that I expected, so I am turning to the hive mind. Details inside

Friend is knowledgeable about basic principles of equine/small farm animal care, and knowledgeable about human herbal practices, and is an avid gardener. What she is seeking is specific 'recipes' and dosage information for herbal remedies for horses and small critters (goats especially). Her interest is not in replacing standard veterinary care, but supplementing it with complementary care for her menagerie. Local vets are neither knowledgeable nor particularly interested in herbal/complementary veterinary care. Can anyone recommend sources for this information?

Best answer: I think this is where you'd start.

Yeah, I came in to say Juliette de Bairclay Levy as well, just like bricoleur. Herbal medicine for animals was lifetime's passion for at least 90 years (she died at age 102).

My friend Jody Bearman is a vet who specializes in alternative veterinary medicine. She regularly works with horses and other large animals.

I would also talk to this lady, another Jessamyn West, who does holistic horse massage and would probably be able to point you in the right direction.

Response by poster: Thank You very much! All these answers are much more than I had been able to come up with on my own.
