Best web sites / banks in NJ to use to get pre approved for a home loan?

Looking to get pre approved for a home loan as a first step. Could you recommend a few good banks & web sites. The home purchase would be in central NJ. Would prefer to get this done over the phone / online. What is typically considered a good interest rate for someone with very good credit these days?
I, and several people I've referred, have had good experiences with online lender Aim Loan.

I have refinanced twice through Quicken Loans and found their rates competitive and the online process was pretty easy. I especially liked the way they were able to work around my schedule and come to me for the closing. Despite their slogan I wouldn't go so far as to say I was amazed, but would definitely look at using them again.
As for rates, I go to Bankrate.com to see what various lenders are charging.

For help deciding whether and when to lock a rate, and to get a good idea of what rates are being offered, I like this website: Mortgage Rate Watch.
