Can you recommend a really good physical therapist in NYC?

I'm having some ongoing low back pain and sciatica. Miserable! I'd like to find a really good physical therapist in NYC, ideally someone who's really up on pain science (I've been reading about the pain neuromatrix and brain maps) -- and NOT someone who's just going to cart out a bunch of textbook exercises, especially while they're attending to three other clients!
Maybe Feldenkrais will be of help. I'm going to take a class next weekend. But if anyone can recommend a really good, smart PT, please do! Thanks.
There's an Egoscue clinic in Westchester — is that geographically reasonable (sorry, I'm not familiar with New York geography)? I've recommended the Egoscue Technique before because it made such a difference for me.

The physical therapy dept at Hospital for special surgery on the ues has a good reputation although I've only ever worked there with their hands specialists so I couldn't recommend a particular practitioner for you.

I don't have any personal recommendations to offer but I love Forward thinking PT and one of their contributors has a practice in New York City. Her bio states: Her approach to treatment is based on the biopsychosocial model of care and she incorporates neuroscience pain education with all of her patients.

Response by poster: Thanks, everyone. Hey, roomthreeseventeen, I looked at Chris Johnson's website, and it looks like his practice is really geared to athletes, which I am not. Do you think this matters?
