Japanese Translation Help

I bought some dashi powder mix (I know, it's cheating), and I'm pretty sure of the ratio, but just want to make sure I'm interpreting this right. Photo after the jump.

I believe that these 4 gram packets should be put into 600mL of hot water, but I'm not 100% sure of the rest of the directions. Any help?

"Add one package (4g) to 600ml (3 cups) of cold or hot water."

The lines below say "You can use this dashi in a wide range of dishes, such as soups, yudofu, shabu-shabu, and chawan-mushi."

Thanks, homodachi. I wasn't sure what the 3 was referencing.
