Original Comic Book Sketches, where are you?

So my husband has suggested that for Christmas, he'd love to have the original sketch art from a comic book. Problem is, I have no clue where to find that sort of thing. Help?
So I've tried googling a lot to little avail. I'd ask him, but he'd just say that it will be too much money and I shouldn't bother. It seems like there are some on Ebay, but I'm not sure if that's the best place to go or if I'm likely to get fakes there or what have you. Our budget is not great, at most maybe a couple hundred for something perfect, so I'm not looking for the famous stuff, but I also don't want a background scene without any of the actual main characters. Ideally I'd love to get him something with the current Captain Marvel (or her previous Ms Marvel name), as that's one of his favorite characters, but something like Deadpool might be nice too. I am open to other characters as well and know that a lot of art is done on the computer these days and it's harder to find, but I'd at least like to make an effort. Ideally he'd like a page in just pencils, without the ink.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome!

Best answer: comicartfans is a site for serious collectors
you should be able to find pretty much any character/artist you're looking for, but obviously prices will vary wildly depending on lots of factors
Frank Cho did a pretty mean Ms. Marvel back in the day, and Dexter Soy has pretty much defined the current "Captain" look.

Best answer: If there's a particular artist whose work you'd esepecially like to purchase, look them up online. Some artists list pages they have for sale right on their website! And even if they don't, emailing them and asking if they sell original artwork is a totally kosher thing to do! Just be polite, and don't try to haggle them down if they tell you a price that's way beyond what you're willing to pay.
Good luck!

Came in to say I know folks who have directly contacted comic book artists to request a commission - a sketch of their husband/wife, for example. The price point will probably vary depending on complexity of the work and how successful the artist is.
And I know of some up-and-coming artists who sell their sketches through their blogs and FB. So if you have a list of artists he likes, you can explore that angle.

Best answer: Marcio Takara, an artist for Captain Marvel, sells original artwork. His FAQ recommends contacting him for info.

Best answer: I have a friend who has done work for Marvel and DC and he and the people in his studio sell their original art through an Etsy shop. You can poke through his original art here or check out the whole studio's stuff.

I should add that I've bought 10 or 20 original art pieces over the Internet. I am sure I was never the victim of a forgery. A couple of hundred bucks isn't worth the massive effort a forgery would require.
I see that you want just pencils, though: that's an unusual request.
