You know Thai culture? Help me grok this skull sculpture.

In an Atlas Obscura article titled The Strange Specimens of a Mysterious Thai Apothecary (caution: weird dead things in jars) there's this one particular image of what appears to be a modified ram's skull. I want to know more about it.

Is this a common type of object, and if so, is there a name for it that I could use to search for more examples? Does it have a particular cultural or religious significance? Or is this likely a one-off decorated skull that someone put together? Any informed input is welcome.

Best answer: It's a goat skull kapala, used in particular Hindu and Buddhist rituals, and is fairly common.
