Noumea travel suggestions?

I'm planning a long weekend in Noumea, New Caledonia the first week of December. Are there any attractions and/or shopping that previous visitors can recommend? Thanks!

If you head to the main beach you can find companies offering day trips to a nearby uninhabited island, where you can snorkel, travel in a glass-bottom boat, have lunch etc. The waters around Noumea are exceptional, wonderful clear views.

The Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre is fascinating - celebrates the culture of the Kanak people.

Kuendu beach is pretty peaceful during the week, we got there via public bus.

Shopping, don't remember too many exciting things (it's an expensive place) but there was a great fruit market in Centre-Ville and some good Vietnamese bakeries.
