Naming my new kittens after Game of Thrones characters-No Spoilers!

Hi, after the sudden and unexpected death of our beloved pet cat on Sunday, we've decided to adopt two kittens. We are finalists for the adoption and will meet them on Saturday. The kitten we are basing the adoption around is a white male shorthair. We are working on finding him a littermate or bonded kitten to come home with him. I want to name him Jon Snow after the Game of Thrones character because he is one of my favorite characters (also...winter is coming, people!).

I was thinking that if we adopt a girl kitten we'll name her Arya. Don't know what I'd do about naming a second male but we are not opposed to adopting two boys. However, I wanted to check in here and see if you could tell me if Jon Snow and Arya Stark continue to be generally good and decent people throughout the course of the books/tv series. I have only seen up to episode 4 of season 3 of the tv series and have not read the books (yet! waiting for winter break), and I've so far managed to avoid most spoilers. Also, if you have any other suggestions that's appreciated as well.

Well, as with everything in GoT, "good and decent" is relative.. but relative to the other characters, yes to Jon and "it depends" to Arya.

Brienne?

Pretty much yes. People may quibble over this or that action, but they are still definitely on the "heroes" side. (Of course, the series ain't over yet...)

Best answer: Yes, they both are generally good characters through the latest book. Arya gets a bit more morally gray, but not bad by GoT standards.

You could also name them Ghost and Nymeria after Jon and Arya's Direwolves.

Is Ser Pounce mentioned in the show? He's one of Tommen's pets in the book and a kind of running joke.

Ser Pounce even has a friend, Lady Whiskers! Nothing bad has happened to either as of yet.

Response by poster: Thank you so much! I've thought about the direwolves angle and may choose to go that route.

But what about Viserion, Rhaegal or Drogon?

Seriously, George RR Martin wouldn't hurt the dragons, would he? I mean, they could just toast him.

Seconding "Brienne". You can't do much better in terms of 'good and decent' (and awesome). (Though, as a non-book reader, you'd have to take my word for it.)

Response by poster: I've thought about the dragon names, but then how would I pick two out of the three names?

I will always believe that Syrio Forel defeated his foes with a wooden sword. Because there is only one god, Death, and there is only one thing to say to him. Not today.

Syrio and Arya would be good names for a cat duo.

And just to split hairs, while Arya is just THE BEST, calling her good and decent is a bit of a stretch. Then again, the same can be said for cats.

Get a third cat, of course!
