How to maximize my chances of getting an AT&T iPhone tomorrow?

Mefite New Yorkers, lend me your ears! And thoughts. I'm interested in getting an iPhone 6 tomorrow (AT&T) but not sure where to go to maximize my chances of getting one. Definitely going to avoid the Apple stores, so I'm thinking AT&T stores are my best shot. Thoughts on the best place to get a phone? Better to go to midtown near work? Or stay on the Upper West Side (where I live) and try one of the stores around here?

I don't know anything New York specific, but in my experience in past years, AT&T stores have shorter lines but also MUCH smaller stock. I've done it once, and have friends who have done it a few times, though it's been a few years (now I just pre-order online). In those cases, anyone who showed up after the store was open was fairly SOL, especially if they wanted one of the more popular configurations. If there's an area that has more than one AT&T store in close proximity, it might be worth checking several of them before opening and seeing which has the longest line.

You should also try Best Buy. They will have a stock as well, since they can do upgrades and sales for AT&T users.

Response by poster: For anyone looking for ideas for the iPhone 7 launch in the future, I just walked into an AT&T store on launch day and picked up an iPhone 6. No real problems at all.
