Horsey book from the 80's?

The book is about a girl who got injured in a horse accident -- she rode a horse she wasn't supposed to along a road and she got hurt and the horse was killed. She gets sent to a relatives ranch for the summer. While checking fences she finds a young horse and brings it home...
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Can anyone help me find this book! Pretty, please!

You might want to take a look at this list and see if anything rings a bell.
I remember this book from being a kid's bookseller, but I'll be damned if I can remember the name.

That sounds a lot like the Horse Whisperer beginning to me too, as Theora55 said. But I don't remember the part about bringing the young horse home.
