Rape counselling in Bristol UK

Can anyone recommend a rape trauma counsellor/EMDR expert in Bristol UK? I was raped 25 years ago, so not a crisis, but following a recent brave question from someone else I realise I need to get help. M I am happy to pay and I'd like personal recommendations if anyone has any. Thank you

My girlfriend works for Rape Crisis, and she often expresses frustration about the name of the organisation because it suggests that it offers support only, as you say, in a crisis. This is far from the case: I know that many (most, probably) of the people she deals with get in touch because of things that happened in the past.

I would bet that the organisation formerly known as Rape Crisis Bristol, now Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support, changed its name for this very reason. Its front page emphasises: "Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support (SARSAS) is a specialist support service for women and girls who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives." I definitely recommend you give them a call - their staff will be the best people to ask about other resources if that's what you find you need.
